01 GMC 5.3L Vortec engine issue

Hi guys, I have had a engine problem recently present itself. It seems to either occur or not and not really sure where to start. When the truck starts it will have a hard time ideling, it pulsates between 1000 rpm and near stalling (which occasionaly happens). Any input from the throttle will cause the rpms to jump up well past normal (ie rev the truck to 2000 rmp it may jump as high as 4000 rpm). The rpms will remain at the elevated state for a minute or two then plummet and sometimes stall the truck. I have checked the codes and its pushing egr valve, evap canaster and random misfire. It happens every other time i start the truck and isnt consistant with outside temp or engine temp. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated
