Beware of Newegg PC Combo's

Beware of Newegg.com's PC combo's. These are combo's Newegg puts together of supposedly compatible parts to build a PC.

 

Guess what. They do not gaurantee the parts are compatible! Of course if you want to return an unopened part of the combo, you lose the discount you got by buying the parts in the combo they put together. Worse, if like me, you open everything in order to, oh I dont know, BUILD the combo and then want to return anything then you get a 15% restocking charge as well.

 

When I contacted Newegg, they said, "The combo items are just sold together at a discounted price, and they will be in their original manufacturer packages. We do not guarantee the compatibility of the items. Thanks for your patience.". I went back and forth with them for awhile to no avail, they will not budge. They put parts together at near random, call it a combo, and BUYER BEWARE!

 

Silly me for expecting the power supply in the combo to be comptible with the motherboard. I was in a rush and did not want to spec my own parts.

 

First time after many years of purchases to be disappointed with them.

I've always been satisfied with Newegg but you have to do your research before buying. PC's aren't something you can rush through. You need to pay attention to what your buying. Just sell the power supply on ebay or craigslist and buy the right one.

Those combos usually don't have the parts I need in them anyway. I like to look on slickdeals.net for my parts and get them one at a time, at a price I like.
