Painting valve covers

Recommended Posts

Posted

I want to paint my valve covers to match the exterior color of my truck. My question is if automotive paint will hold up to the temperature. I have seen on several TV shows were they have used regular automotive paint to paint the engine block and other components but not sure if it would actually hold up to the temperatures.

It's all in the prep work and quality materials. Prep the metal properly, use a high quality heat resistant primer and high quality automotive paint.

I did mine, Sand blasted them to metal.. Primed 2-3 coats, 2-3 coats of high temp paint, Then 2 coats of clear.

Its been 8-9 mnths and 5-6000 miles and they look great as th day i did them!
