Can the temperature pre-set (-18C) block heater cord be by-passed to avoivd buyin a new one?

Yes by cutting the cord. Removing the the sensor and patching the cord back together

I'd like a confirm on this too... I have been reading on other forums that the truck will throw on the engine light and a whole bunch of error codes at you.
