Just changed my PS3 over to use NAS and a DLNA server

Wasn't hard. The router does most the work. It will take getting used to. I'm hoping for better load times of my movies

Well not all my movies show up over the network. The nice things is being able to save to the hard drive over the network using my laptop. Almost like a cloud storage or a server. I like that aspect but the movie thing kind of pisses me off

Before I built my media pc from spare parts and a couple I had to buy I used PS3media server. It worked most of the time except on the few oddball poorly encoded mkv files. It's actually the reason I ended up hard-wiring my PS3 since the 1080p movies would overload my wireless for some reason. Don't know which software you're using though. BTW the PS3 doesn't natively support .mkv files so if those are the ones that are not showing up that's why. They have to be transcoded/muxed/recoded or whatever the proper word is in order to have them play on the PS3.

Most mine are x264. I have my ps3 hard wired to the router and so is the hard drive. No software necessary

I've got XBMC on my laptop reading a network share on my desktop streaming over one of the lower wireless N connections. Pretty surprised it works since my router is a verizon mifi but I have no problem with 6+ GB blu-ray rips.

My blu-ray rips are 2-4 gb

What are you using to rip? I've got Any-DVD to remove protection and handbrake for encoding.
