I have mine on 16x8s. They rub maybe once or twice a month when making a left turn. I think there are som guys here who run them on stock wheels w/ no problem.

On what type of truck? If it's a HD with the 6.5" rims then you'll most definitely be pressing your luck. I have 285/75's on my HD and that's probably too large for the factory rims. A 305/70 will be about the same height as the 285, but it will be wider. And since the rim isn't really wide enough for a 75 series then a 70 series is something you should think about for a while first. But, if you have a Z71 -- with 7" rims -- then none of this applies.  :wtf:

And yes, the speedo and ABS will not recognize the changes. Now, that's not all bad; with the speedo/odo running "slower" you get a longer warranty! And I can attest, from personal experience, that the ABS doesn't seem to care too much (had some scumb@g cut me off BAD and the ABS saved my bacon).

Got 305/70/R16 on the 1500 Z71 they work good no rubbing, wear even thumbs up.

Got 285/75/R16 on the 2500HD they come closer to rubbing and they don't wear worth a s*%t you can see they are wearing the centers out of the tire.  When it's wet the tire is only wet on the center and dry on the edges... I'm like Yay Yay.. :wtf:

If you are wearing the center of the tire and not the outer edges, you're probably running too much air pressure. I've used the old trick of wetting the tire and dropping the pressure untill the entire tread wets the ground (all of the tread makes contact with the ground).

If the tires are too wide for the rims, you will have wear no matter what you try, as the tire can't spread out properly.

But that's not entirely true Mike. If you lower the pressure too much then you're using the sidewall, instead of the air pressure, for most of the weight bearing forces. That's not good for a tire.

I have 305/70/16 on my 02 2500HD 4x4 6L. Tires will rub a tiny bit on the sway bar up front at full turn. Also had to trim back the air dam a bit.  Goodyear rep said no problem with 305/70/16 on factory HD wheels. But that is the max. He Recommended 285's due to rubbin'. Didn't go with Goodyears but oh well.  They dont contact a lot on the edges due to the skinny rim.

knuts, I looked at your home page, and I really like what I saw. I hope you don't mind, but I sent you an e-mail asking some specific questions about your lift kit, and that sorta stuff. I say to anyone else on here, check out that page, he has a great looking 2500HD.

If you have to lower the pressure that much then the wheels are too narrow for the tire. It sounded like his rim width was OK for the rubber but was wearing the tire in the center. Sounded like too much air to me.
