Weird Noise in Front End

Recommended Posts

I have a 2011 Z71 with 68K miles. I heard a weird noise yesterday morning coming from my front end. It was like a light metal clanging sound, and you could hear it when rolling slowly in forward or reverse. I put new tires on Saturday and got a front end alignment in the process from a very reputable shop. I brought the truck to the tire shop yesterday evening and when I got there it wouldn't make the noise. We jacked up the front end and maunally spun the wheels and no noise. Shook the tires and zero play or wobble. I left the tire shop and drove a few miles to the dealer and it wouldn't make the noise there either. Anyone have any idea what it could be? The noise didn't appear to get louder at hwy speeds because I couldn't hear it when running on the interstate. Haven't heard it today either. Thanks in advance for any feedback.

Probably got something lodged in your undercarriage I.e. a rock and it was hitting metal making that noise then fell out :dunno:

Well my 96 pickup did that once it ended up be being the cheap brake pads a had put on didn't fit the caliper tight and eventually got worse and made a click click click noise. I bent the brackets on the pads a little so they fit tight and problem solved. Your truck is alot newer but I'm sure it could do that too just an idea.

Mine started out only making noise sometimes too.

I thought the same thing about maybe a rock. My buddy at work laid down and listened while it was making the noise, while I rolled back and forth and didn't see anything. We both looked underneath and never could find anything. Didn't make the nosie yesterday or this morning. It's a mystery, I guess.

Its so hard to find an intermittent problem. About once a year my blinkers get stuck on for an hour or so and I can't turn them off. Then its gone as quick as it came. Been dealing with that since 2008 and still ain't found the problem. Good luck to ya
