Rear wiper fluid sprayer not working correctly...

Hey all,

Hitting the rear wiper fluid button on my '02 Tahoe results in some dripple down the rear wiper and onto the very bottom of the window. The front sprayer works fine, so it doesn't appear to be an issue with the fluid itself.

How should I go about troubleshooting this? Where does the problem most likely lie? Is it most likely a problem with the sprayer motor (is there such a thing?), or with the nozzle of the sprayer, or what?

Any advice is certainly appreciated! Thanks!

It sounds like you are getting some pressure to the rear nozzle since some fluid is coming out.

Does the Tahoe have a seperate resovior for the rear w/w fluid? I really don't know...

If not then look for a problem at the nozzle (stick a pin in it), or look for a kink in the hose around the tailgate.

Make sure your hose isn't clogged too. Unhook both ends and make sure you can blow through it. Since the nozzle is on the rear, you may need a buddy to tell you if air is coming out, just blow through it once before someone is back there so you don't blow fluid on them.

Actually you should be able to tell without a buddy. If it's hard to blow through, it might be clogged, if it's easy, the hose should be good to go.

disconnect the tube from the nozzle and then activate. should be a nice stream out when the pump is on. If not then check the pickup tube in the reservoir, the screen usually gets clogged. If that doesn't clear up the problem you either have pinched tubing or the pumps is weak.

If you got a good stream out then the nozzle is usually clogged. You should be able to clear it with a sewing needle.

Using distilled water instead of tap will help eliminate clogged nozzles from happening.
