How many of you caught the bull riding on NBC?

For the first time bull riding was featured on network television today.  Its my favorite sport, but I know many of you have never seen it before.  If you watched a few minutes of it, what did you think of the only real extreme sport?

Twenty or thirty years ago (more like thirty-five), Hank Strout (one of my second cousins) was a bull rider. I remember seeing him in the hospital after he got stepped on (big black and blue mark on his right side). He later had a sheep dog/monkey/clown/trick horse act. Hank lives in Florida now and is retired. I remember him once asking me for a fifteen dollar entry fee (like 1968). I gladly gave it to him.

Have you ever noticed that the best bull riders are very short and muscular. Tall guys don't make it in bull riding.

Jpshostr, I didnt happen to catch it this weekend was too busy cause I was up at the Winston Cup race at NHIS friday and wasnt around saturday.  I usually watch it on TNN.  Its great to see them start broadcasting on a major network though.

I've watched alot of bullriding, so I'm more interested in what you though about their coverage in general.  From what I've seen, I don't think they did as good of a job as TNN.  I didn't watch all of it though, I was busy getting caught up on homework.   :D

btw, are you sure its the only extreme sport?  lol

I thought the bulls were really tough on it tonight since they have had three weeks to rest up since the last time they have been rode.  The riders also seemed to be going at it pretty good.  200 grand may have had a little something to do with that though.

The coverage left a little to be desired.  I thought sure they'd have at least Don Gay on there telling them whats going on.  Tuff did his part, but most of the time their crowd noise volume was too high to hear him.  The other two guys acted like they knew what was what, but didn't have a clue.  Was a correct in hearing George Micheal saying he has bulls?  Sure you do Mr. Sports Machine.  What was really unfortunate was twenty minutes in they lost all visual for a few minutes.  That wasn't good for a first time ever broadcast on network TV.  I also found it funny that they "recycled" some XFL cameras and equipment by having a guy running around the arena with it.

All in all, I hope the numbers for this broadcast were good so we can see the PBR on network tv regularly.  Get the crew that does it for TNN and you have it made.

And yes, bull riding is the ONLY extreme sport.  Your only protection out there is how fast you move when you hit the ground.

Thanks for reminding me of that "joke" I told you, JP. (It wasn't really a joke, but it's funny anyways, so I'll turn it into one :D)

Well, A retired, well-known Pro Bull-Rider, and John Elway, are sitting at a bar together. They start an argument over which sport is better. Bull-Riding? or football? So, the PBR says "well, ya know, in bull riding, you need  2 balls to play!". And that sparks it off. They shout back and forwarth over reasons why one sport is better than the other. And finally, Elway had enough and said "You know what?! it doesn't matter. Cause in both sports, after it's all over, we have no use for our balls anyway!"
