2006 Denali SUV tire recommendations, opinions please

we have a 2006 denali suv, running the factory 20 inch wheels, with 275 55 good year ls2

its time to change them, i think this set has around 30000 miles on them.

 

the truck has 75000 total miles.

I was wondering what other options you guys have tried and recommend.

this vehicles primary job is to haul kids and strollers.

We live in so-cal so weather is mostly dry.

On another note, are there any recommended performance mods that really work for this motor, that may give some more power and/or help fuel economy

 

i do regular service, oil changes per dealer, beyond that i think i had the injectors cleaned ( or whatever that service they sold me really does) and the transfer case serviced (per the dealer rec.)

 

anything else i should check out

Where is socal? I am in Bakersfield and it barely rains here. I run an all season tire. I use the 275/55R20 Cooper Discoverer H/T Plus. Good traction, decent control in rain and snow of Utah, and no noise from them. Best of all they price is great. I have about 35,000 on mine

Michelin LTX MS/2; in the upper price range, but a great, dependable all-around performer.

 

EDIT: I've driven in southern California, so I'll add they're speed rated to 118 mph. Happy, smooth sailing!

I've had/have HL Alenzas on 4 GM vehicles and they have generally been a good experience, albeit a notch or two below the Michelins in overall satisfaction and performance. They're also a notch or two lower in price, as well. They do have a 130 mph speed rating in the 275/55-20 size, however.

I ran Toyo Proxes ST IIs on my 2010 Yukon Denali, 2008 TBSS, and now my 2013 Yukon Denali XL, and live in San Diego. Great all around tire. We tow a boat, as well as have a cabin up in Big Bear, so our vehicles see quite a few different terrains. Definitely recommended.

well im not too worried about the speed rating, i wont go over 100 max in the truck....i have an e63 if i want to misbehave.

 

did anyone have bad experiences with the LS2

 

 

in regards to performance, what can the Black bear tune provide, is it worth it.??

I will say that it is worth it. They fixed up a tune that another place butchered for me. As for the LS2's, they are cheap, but I have heard bad things

If you think that 6.0 runs well now, let them at it (so I have heard). Just throw Blackbear into the search window and you will get thousands to search.

Now to the original question, Toyo or cooper in a HT and both make excellent tires without the Michelin price tag but everyone with the Michelin's are highly recommended by those who buy them but so are the first two.

I've got Michelin LTX MS/2 on my wife's '05 Yukon Denali XL for about a year and have been very happy with them. She has the factory 20's as well. Had the Bridgestone Altenza on there before that.

hey so i decided i will go with the michelins, its nice because they have a nice milaege warrenty. 200 bucks but im curious to see how they will differ than the good years.

 

wondering about the tpms, some times over the years i get a warning saying there is one malfunction, and it usually repairs it selfs

 

do i need new tpms or is that somethign they will try to sell me regardless....are they expensive?

 

 

 

oh and just got a warning saying something about ride control inactive.....great.........
