2013 Rear Axle Swap HELP!

I have a 2013 Silverado 1500 Z71 with the 5.3L but its Supercharged (E-Force). My truck only has 4k miles and I destroyed my ring and pinion twice (I have a heavy foot and like to piss off mustang owners when I go by them). Edelbrock covered the first ring and pinion change (I got the drive train warranty through them) but with it happening again I want a stronger axle. I am looking at doing a complete rear axle assembly swap from the 8.6 to the 9.5 14 bolt and a Detroit Locker (among some other things to beef it up). I can get a assembly from a salvage yard (Same year 1500 but with the 9.5" 14 bolt axle) but cant get an answer if it can be done and how. The service department at the only Chevrolet dealership close to me has never done it so they have no clue. I know it can be done as the 1500's with the max trailering option and 6.2L has this axle. Does anyone know what modifications if any that I will have to do to make this happen? My truck came with the junk drum breaks and doesn't have the 4 wheel ABS. Thanks for any help!

Not sure. I may have the part number for the whole 14 bolt axle assembly includong brakes

You'll probably also be into it for a different master cylinder and proportioning valve/ABS assembly, too.

I am pretty sure you have 4 wheels ABS, they don't put ABS only on the front just because of drum brakes.

The part number for the COMPLETE axle assembly, locker, 3.73 gears, 9.5" 12 bolt ring gear, 14 bolt cover, 6 lug axles. disc brakes already mounted is 22847704.

You may need to replace the soft lines at the rear and you will need the banjo bolts off a 1500 with a 6.2L engine

Thanks for the part number chawkins6789 . I guess the axle I was going to get out of the salvage yard is something different (25831126 - looks like it is for a 2009). Probably better to just get it new that way Edelbrock covers it. Found it for $2500 delivered (only $600 more than used). Do I have to replace the proportioning valve? Looking at GM Parts Direct there is only one part available for all 1500's for the 2013 year. I know I will probably have to get some programming done to get everything working (due to the disk breaks for ABS and 3.73 gears). I guess I will have to get the banjo bolts as chawkins6789 said but what other parts? I never asked the shop where I got the supercharger installed if they have done this type of swap before. Couldn't hurt to ask.

As far as ABS goes from what I was reading online unless it came with the rear disk breaks the 1500 silverado's do not have 4 wheel abs (yet I still could be wrong). Testing my truck after the supercharger was put on I do know at one point my front brakes didn't lock up under very hard breaking but my back wheels did. Was rather interesting so that's why I think it doesn't have 4 wheel abs or I just have a faulty abs system. I will ask the dealership to look at the system just in case.

If anyone wants to know about the Supercharger from Edelbrock, I would have to say if you have the money GET IT PUT ON! Dyno before was rated at 261 RWHP and 283 ft lbs tq(rw). After install dyno put it at 392 RWHP and 401 ft lbs tq(rw). Dont know what it is at the flywheel but the guys at the dragstrip cant believe a lifted silverado with 35" mud tires and 3.42 rear gears (that broke on me twice) can smoke them! It is rather scary though going down the track with mud tires that are rated at a max speed of 100... And yes I do get the same fuel mileage without cylinder deactivation. It does hit the wallet when you fill up the tank with premium though.

Thanks for the info.

For me the power bump will be less according to edelbrock when they get that kit perfected. The bigger engines get less gains. The 4.8 screams with one. You may or may not need an adapting universal joint. If you have a decent collection of hand tools and a torque wremch you could install in your driveway

Is your truck 4wd? I shouldn't assume, but with a six inch lift on a Z71 I am assuming. If so you'll need to match the gear change up front as well.
