Console Power Outlet

I could use some help with my console power outlet. I've got a 2010 Silverado crew cab Z71 4x4 LT. There is a aux power outlet in the console and it recently stopped working. I've been trying to find where the fuse is to check it, as a first step to trouble shooting. In my dash fuse panel, I've found that fuse 2 and fuse 16 (both 20 amp fuses) are labeled for aux power outlets. When I checked these, both fuses seemed in tact. I'm under the impression, these fuses are for the aux power outlet on the left hand side of the dash and the USB port on the right hand side of the dash. Does anyone know about the wiring arrangement for this type of set up? Any suggestions where I can look for a fuse for the console outlet?

check all your fuses . one might be blowen. good look

My first step would be to check and see if I had voltage to the outlet. Then I would check and see if I had ground to the outlet. Then start chasing from there. You could have voltage and no ground. If so you will be checking fuse all day for nothing. Or it could be a case where the outlet is ok but you are having a problem with whatever you are plugging into it. I have a phone charger that won't work with the cigar lighter on the dash. But the lighter works. But the charger will work with the rear lighter.

You said you check the fuse box in the dash did you check the one under the hood. It should have a diagram printed on the cover.

Thanks for all the responses. I've since checked the fuse panel under the hood as well. Just FYI--there is a 20 amp fuse there for outlet labeled "cigarette lighter". So I think I've found all three fuses, for all three outlets, even though one outlet on the dash is actually a USB. All three fuses are in tact, and not blown. I took your advice, and checked all the fuses in both panels with a test light, and they all seem fine. I then put the test light to the outlet in the console and it appears it does not have voltage. Any ideas what this means? Is the outlet bad?

 

I thought I could remove the outlet and put the test light to the wires connecting the outlet, but I cannot seem to remove it. In older cars and airplanes I've worked on, the outlets seemed to simply twist out. This one doesn't seem to budge with a twist. Any ideas?

You could just have a disconnect wire I had one in my 98 f150. Have you pulled the dash open yet? I'm pretty sure you will have to in order to pull out the port. I have seen many that have a large nut to secure them in place.

If the fuses are all good Have you tried testing the positive terminal in the socket to an external ground? Could be the wire has come disconnected. My 0.02 haha,
