Cat Scratch Fever

Anyone have any tips, short of a .22 rifle, on how to keep stray cats off of vehicles?  I want to avoid the "buy a car cover" suggestion too since I'm trying to keep them off of 3 and having to put the cover on and take it off every time I wanna go somewhere seems a bit annoying.

Have had the suggestion of trapping it/them in the bed of the truck and leaving them there for a day or two to get hungry and to "think about it"  But I don't want to harm the cat I just want it to find a better sleeping spot.  Trapping and the ASPCA seems like a pretty good idea right about now.

Anybody out there figure out how to convince an annoying cat to seek better digs?  Thanks in advace for any help!

I can relate JAFO, got two in my neighborhood (one is ours)...little dirty paw marks all over the hood...have yet to find an answer...maybe another couple of coats of Zaino would make it so slippery they couldnt stay on!

Re Cat Scratch Fever.  I would actually think NRA spokesman Ted would actually aprove of a .22.

But for the neighbors sake, maybe a garden hose?  Run the cat off and rinse the truck too?  ???

How about you tie a dog to the bumper!!!!  Or maybe one of those programmable talking alarms, and make your cars "bark" when the cat comes near!!!

Just get one of those humane traps big enough for a cat, where they can walk in but then can't get back out.  Just stick some food in the back of it.  Once you catch the cat you can call the humane society or drive far far away and let the cat go.

My friend loves to mess with his cat.  He walks around the house with socks on and then puts his finger on the poor cat's nose when it gets curious.  It's hilarious to see that head shoot back with the static discharge! :D  You'd think the cat would stop wanted to get petted.  ???

NEWBIE I heard a friend tell of another friend who set his truck up to stop a car "keyer".  One day he came back to his truck and found a key welded to his front quarter panel!!! :D A few days later he found a letter in his mailbox from the "keyer's" attorney.   ???  :stupid:

Sounds like a great idea newbieZ71...  But if my little knowledge of electricity is accurate that won't work.  As I understand the cat would need to touch both the electrified surface and one that isn't at the same time.  However it's most likely the cat is getting on the truck by jumping so it will never be on two surfaces at the same... Oh wait a minute... Your were probably joking weren't you???  Opps... Nevermind! :D

Seriously though... I had wondered about some sprays I had seen that is supposed to keep animals out of garden areas and wondered if that would work around parking areas.  Anyone had any experiences with these products?

Sure, its called "Great Dane Urine Spray".  Cats tend to stay away from that particular area.   ;)   There are sprays for gardens, havent ever tried them though....
