Will my new truck order progress be emailed to me?

Hi All! This is my first post, been reading for a while. I ordered a new High Country two weeks ago, my dealer said i will get email updates throughout the whole process, start to finish. Is this accurate? After reading around here it seems as though everyone that made orders is using the GM reps here for updates. If i will get updates automatically that is great, and if not that is fine too as long as there is a place to follow the process manually, what is the real deal?

The customer srvice rep here will give you weekly updates. BUT they will probably just say your at 1100. When you ask why it hasnt movd they have no answer, 'very frustrating.
