I'm picking up a barebones PC system: 1.2GHz Athlon Barebones*128MB+64MBAGP+SND+LAN

 

And I'm in need of some hard drives.  I've got some spare cd drives and disk drive for it so I don't need to buy those.  I need to get some big drives (60 plus gigs) for storage.  This computer will essentially be for storage and serve as a network server.  When i get some money I'll put 2 80 gig drives in it and another 20 gig to run the games off of.  Any good places online to order from w/ good prices?

 

And yes, this will be my 4th computer ???  and hopefully the last one I'll buy... for now.

Chev, I get mine at CompUSA or Staples in person....you may be able to save a couple of dollars buying on line but I just never think it is worth it.  Also, I suffer BIG TIME from the "I want it NOW!" syndrom....

299, geez, I'm getting the whole system for about 275 w/ shipping.  I may just hit the local computer store to get the 20 gig drive for it and then buy some bigger storage drives later when I've got some extra money.

 

These computers are like trucks, they are never done.

HEY! Dont yell at me! You said you wanted LARGE capacity...I gave it to you.....now you change your mind and are willing to go with 20, 1/3 less than your original post!!!!

There's a sams club about two miles from my house and one of my friends has a membership.  Thanks for mentioning them, I don't think I would have ever thought of them.

 

 

And Newbie, look at my original post

If it was me, I'd buy a couple 40's or smaller.  Quicker access times, less chance of loosing ALL of your data, easier to modify computers (organization, if you want to designate one soley gaming, internet, parents stuff, etc), and it might be cheaper.

Good idea, I'm going to have 4 different computers to store the drives in so space isn't really an issue.  I should be getting the computer in about 2 weeks so I've got some time to find a drive.  I figure I'll need a 7200 for the computers C drive and would a 5400 be sufficient for storage?  Right now I've got a 5400rpm 80 gig drive on my computer and I don't notice it being slower than any other drives.

 

And c'mon, my parent's can't operate a computer.  I picked up a computer when I got my last one for my sister for her birthday this friday and it's also for my dad so he can learn how to use it.  He's always asking me to show him, but usually he bugs me while I'm busy doing other things.

Tell them to give you my discount anyway.  I was a "special" employee.  :D

 

Still I think they are relatively the cheapest around.  So if I can go a day or two without it, I order from them, otherwise, I just head over to the knowledgable staff at Best Buy.

 

NOTE: Knowledgable is me being sarcastic.  :D

Chev, before you buy from CDW PM me about it...nothing bad, its just that I have some sources from them....buy things there pretty regularly...
