Heater Hose.......

Does anyone know where to get the heater hose with metal on one end?? I went to every parts store in town and no one can even get it, what are you supposed to do?? I even checked PartsZone and GmPartsDirect and could not find anything using the keyword search. The one from the firewall to the radiator is just cut to fit, but the other one turns into a metal hose a little ways after coming out of the firewall, thats the one I need! It is for a 1991 K1500 350.

Thanks!

I had to replace the same hose a while back, and was running into the same problems.

I took off the hose, and took it to the stealership. It may have taken them 30 minutes to find one, but they did.

Another note. If you are talking about the hose with the aluminum nipple going into the intake manifold....Beware. It is going to snap right off as soon as you put a wrench on it. Get the tap ready.

Also, mine went into the intake manifold towards the back, by the distrubutor cap. Some go into it up front (I think just the newer ones). If yours is at the back and it snaps, have fun tapping that one out.

I just took the whole manifold off. If you don't want to do that, look at the bright side...You will learn a few new words while fiddling at the short end of the hood with a fender in the gut.

Hope this helps a little.

Well.....I got the aluminum piece out and the threaded piece out then got cheap and impatient. It is back near the distributor, had to take a few electrical items off to get to it. I just decided to cut the factory clamping off with the grinder and take the 3/4 rubber hose off and put a new one on. The aluminum piece didnt look too bad after I cleaned it up but would have rather had a new one. Any way I got everything double clamped and checked for leaks and it looks good so far, hard to tell for sure in the dark though. Thanks!! :thumb:

You are a better man than me, mine snapped, and two others that I have had the mis-fortune of messing with did too.

As far as leaks go...Just make sure you ALWAYS check it in the dark, and there will never be any.
