BTT2007 Posted December 29, 2013 Posted December 29, 2013 Hey everyone, New here but had a few questions for the experts. I have a 2008 Silverado Z82 (I'll try to attack a picture below), and I like the way it looks right now but I'd love to add just a couple of tweaks to it. Biggest thing is that I'm going to need new tires soon…right now it has Mickey Thompson's (came with those) but I'm open to anything. Biggest thing is, I want it raised just a bit more. I don't want it really jacked up (don't do a lot of off-roading), but would love to see it just an inch or two higher and maybe fit some 35's on there. The problem is I don't really know much about doing this stuff, so I was curious to see any opinions about what people think would look good. Aside from that I want to put a bull bar on the front and then it should be good to go. Anyways, any ideas on what I should do to get the look I want? I don't want to spend a ton of money, either. I know the tires will be relatively costly, but how about getting spacers instead of a suspension lift?
ICE_BREAKER68 Posted January 2, 2014 Posted January 2, 2014 BTT2007, I'm here also to do a 2"-3" lift on my 2000 GMC Sierra1500 SLE 4WD. I was wondering if I do a 3" lift, if I will need to change any of the lines, like the fuel or brake lines or even get longer shocks. Question I have for you is, are you looking to only level the truck? If so, from my understanding, it is important to keep the angle that is on the truck now, as the truck is set up like that from the factory and therefore it may mess with the driveshaft or ball joints. Not sure...I'm hoping someone way smarter than me can clarify. Good luck to you on your "lift".
TooTall1 Posted January 2, 2014 Posted January 2, 2014 OP, the easiest way to lift your truck about an inch would be either a Rough country body lift (1.25") or a Zone offroad body lift(1.5"). Anything else would require a whole new suspension lift. Ice breaker, your truck has a torsion bar front suspension, a whole different set up. Your best bet is to shop for a true suspension lift kit. If you want to do more than level your truck, it involves some pretty major mods.
nate1dawgg Posted January 2, 2014 Posted January 2, 2014 I have the 2-in "lift" from Zone and really like the look of it. When it sits next to my brother-in-law's stock Silverado, you can definitely see a difference. It consists of a 2" leveling block in the front and a 2" block in the back. I did the install myself and it wasn't too difficult, probably 4-5 hours for me. I'm not sure what tire size you would be able to fit under it (there are other topics around here talking about it) as mine are still stock, but you'd be able to get a decent size with no problems. http://zoneoffroad.com/zone-offroad-products-2in-suspension-lift-kit-chevy-gmc-pickup/c1210
