Yep rental costs are gross, actually the cost of anything is expensive, food, clothes, entertainment all seems to be more expensive Up here.

Back when I had my '07 Sierra I was thinking the same.

I thought a fluid change can fix it. It was better though. For sure.

But another 15000km down the road I spend 3.5 grands (before taxes!) for a complete rebuilt.

And one thing is for sure. You don't wanna hear someone say: "If you had brought the truck in earlier we might would have been able to fix it with a change of some clutches or bushings..."

Your right, Im gonna have it looked at my next day off. Im hoping its a pressure solenoid, I was reading about common problems with the 4 speed and that was one of them, some of the symtoms were, running warmer then normal, and some gears slipping which sounds like the issues im having. I mean it seems whenever I messed with the fluid or when the temp increased it would act up, and the pressure silnoid was also what went off when I first noticed it.

V1ZION,

Hello! I am sorry to hear that you are experiencing an issue with your vehicle. I understand that you may be taking your vehicle in to be diagnosed. I would be happy to locate a dealership in your area. Please private message me if I can be of any assistance.

i HAVE A 2007 SIERRA WITH THE FOLLOWING TRANSMISSION ISSUES

1.ALMOST EVERY TIME I SHIFT INTO REVERSE THE SERVO ON THE TRANSFER CASE POPS OUT AND MAKES A SERIOUS WHIRRING/GRINDING SOUND. iF I POP IT INTO NUETRAL AND BACK INTO REVERSE EVERYTHING IS FINE.  THIS HAPPENS IN 2W AND 4W!

2. EVERY  SO OFTEN WHEN I STOP AT A LIGHT OR STOP SIGN AND THEN PROCEED SHE WILL TACK OUT LIKE SHE IS STUCK IN LOW GEAR.  I IMMEDIATELY PULL OVER. SHIFT TO NUETRAL THEN REVERSE AND BACK TO DRIVE IT USUALLY FUNCTIONS PROPERLY.

3.  RECENTLY I USED 4WHEEL LOW TO TOW A VECHILE.  AFTER I WAS FINISHED I SWITCHED IT OUT OF 4L BUT SHE REMAINED STUCK IAND SERVICE 4 WHEEL DRIVE WARNING CAME ON.  THIS HAS HAPPEND TWICE.  i REPLACED THE SERVO THE FIRST TIME AND ALL WAS WELL UNTIL I USED 4L AGAIN.  i HAD TO DRIVE IN 4L FOR THREE DAYS UNTIL MY MECHANIC COULD LOOK AT IT. HE WAS ABLE TO CLEAR THE ERROR CODES AND GET HER TO FUNCITON IN 2W AND 4H.

I REGULARLY CHECK MY FLUID LEVELS. NOT ONCE HAS THE TRANNY FLUID BEEN LOW OR DISCOLORED OR HAVE A FUNNY SMELL.

ANY IDEAS?  MECHANIC SAYS I NEED A NEW TRANSFER CASE. I'M NOT SURE THAT IS THE FIX ALL!
