03 Sierra 1500hd 6.0 issues

This is my dads truck, yesterday he said driving home and the truck started to act like it was misfiring and then it stalled. He got out and the exhaust smelt really really hot. Got in started it and it was fine. Engine like came on then went off. Pulled up history codes - bank 1 knock sensor, 2 camshaft pos sensor. It drives fine cold but once it gets up to temp it randomly starts stalling. Also there is a rattle pinging in the exhaust.

 

I think he's got bad converters and a piece is broken inside. But what else should I check? What is a good mV the O2 sensors should be saying?

Not sure on mV on the O2 sensors, but it is possible the catalytic convertor could be bad. My wife's car had the entire element detach from the housing, and rattled like a can of spray paint.

 

Maybe some more info could help.

 

- How many miles?

- Fluid levels all good?

02s are all good and when the truck starts shuttering the bank 1 sensor 2 sensor falls on it's face and flat lines. It starts dumping fuel and Makes it really rich. Going to replace both converters and try again.
