Adjust average mileage reading? (2005)

I'm sure there's a method to adjust the average mileage reading on the display, but I couldn't find it in a search. As with most (I suspect), the average mileage readout is not correct.

 

Can someone point me the direction on how to adjust this?

Depends. I assume you have the steering wheel controls, if so, its the back arrow button. Just hold it down till reset.

Sorry, I wasn't too clear. Yes, I have the steering wheel controls. I was not referring to resetting it, but referring to how it calculates the value. The displayed value versus the actual mpg is not correct. In my Range Rover there was a method to adjust the calculation by a percent (either up or down) depending on what your actual mpg was compared to the computer was calculating.

 

Kstrunkcountry, you hold down the "back" or "return" key for three seconds (or something like that) and it should reset it to 0.

Apparently mine has never been reset. It matches total mileage/total gallons.

Yes, you can adjust it with either hp tuners or efilive. Call up black bear and see what they can do for you.

So the only way to modify it is with a tuner? That kind of sux.

As far as i know that is correct. Ive seen some tuners adjust it to make you think your mileage is that much better hoping you dont hand calculate.
