2014 Sierra 1500 Differences

New to GM-Trucks.com. Have been following the site for some time. Thought I would join and get a few opinions about my issue. First I want to say that I have been a GM owner since 1993. I have always purchased GMC 1500 Crewcab Z71 trucks. I typically get a new truck every 2-3 years due to the large amount of miles I run a year. I recently traded in my 2011 GMC Sierra with the 5.3 motor and 3.42 gears for a 2014 Sierra with the same options. Prior to that I had a 2007 with the same motor and rear end and so on. Since I took delivery of my 2014 I have found that truck does not have near the power of the trucks I had before. I took to the dealer on several occasions to just have them make sure it was not something on there end. My truck is currently back in service and has been for over a week for the same problem. During this period the dealer was nice enough to loan me a 2014 Sierra fleet 4 door with the 4.6 V6 motor (2 wheel drive). I have to honestly say that the 4.6 feels like it would run circles around the 5.3 in my truck. The other issue I have found is that my 2014 with the 5.3 gets about 15-16 mpg on the interstate at best. All of my other GMC's averaged at least 19 and that was with level kit and tires. The loaner truck that I am in is averaging 21. I just want to see if anyone has any input on this or maybe experiencing the same thing. Other than these few issues I have to say I love the new interior and the truck rides great. Thanks

On my 2007 and 2011 I had 275/70/R17. My 2014 has 255/70/R17 stock tires.

With the ever increasing electronic nannies I wouldn't doubt that the new engines feel a bit lethargic.

 

My 5.3 is less powerful but then again I don't have TC or anything on there besides ABS! Having said that, try a tune to wake it up and you should feel a difference.

My gas mileage is averaging out to between 12-15 on mine. Bought my Silverado mid November and had the power steering go out 3 times though. Finally got a replacement truck after a GM buy back last week and have had the check engine come on on 3 different occasions. Twice after taking it back to the dealership. Is anyone else having issues? Absolutely love my truck but am a little worried about all of the "computer issues" the vehicle keeps running into.
