The local toy store recommends Back Country nerf bars over Westin. Does anyone have any experience with Back Country?

I found this snippet on the net:

Back Country's Stainless Steel Tube

Steps offer durability and longevity not available with chrome finishes. Constructed of three inch aircraft grade 304 stainless steel tubing polished to a mirror finish, these high quality tube steps really enhance the looks and function of your truck or SUV.

Installation is fast and easy with ordinary hand tools, thanks to a mounting system the uses existing factory holes. No need to jack or raise the truck and no drilling into the vehicle's frame! Kits include all necessary hardware and detailed instructions.

sounds like a place by me.  They wouldnt suggest the westins.  However every other place suggested the westins

I have had the westins for almost 3 yrs and like them very much i have no complaints

I am thinking stainless steel and/or chrome. I have read about shaner's problem with the Westin Oval Steps. Are there other reasons to avoid Westin? Seems like many people on this forum have Westins. No mention of Back Country.

The Back Country steps look good. We have a lot of salt on our roads this time of year and I definately want a pair that will hold up. Are there better alternatives to consider?

I had the Back Country SS bars on my '99 ZR2 and will probably buy them for my '00 Sierra.  I had them on my ZR2 for over two years, sold 'em to a guy in SC for $250 and he said they looked practically new!

I don't think you will be disappointed with them...I sure wasn't!
