What's your truck's fuel tank worth these days??

I was just mulling over the cost of gas and the size of my F250's fuel tank:  It's a 29-gallon and gas is $1.68 for 87 locally.  I've been getting 10.5mpg, which is down a little due to running in 4wd alot, cold-weather warm up etc.

So a full tank for me is now worth $48.72 and it's range is 304 miles. :D  Luckily I only put around 900 miles a month on it.  Before it got cold I was getting around 12 mpg which takes the range to 348 miles-of course I usually fill it up with about 270 miles on the trip odometer.

Also luckily, my wife's Tracker gets 20 to 23 mpg so we use it for longer trips and running errands.

What kind of numbers does everybody come up with?

I havent had enough $$$$ to fill it up from empty lately (26 gallon tank), I usually do the $10 thing in the middle of the week and fill up on the weekends which costs about $27 for a grand total of approximatley $37 a week, it has been higher but I didnt have to use 4x4 as much this week as previous weeks. Yesterday when I filled up it was a $1.69 per gallon and thats the cheapest place I could find, alot of places were $1.75 per gallon.

Well, les see . . . Blue is averaging 14.9 mpg since I bought it in October, 6500 miles ago, ~ 1/3 hwy, 2/3 city.  26 gallon tank (wish I had the 34 gal anyway), and $1.77 locally for 87 octane ($%^# reformulated gas).

That comes out to $46.02, plus some change as I'm sure I could squeeze a little more in.  :D

Range would be 387 miles assuming same % city/hwy driving.

We try to do trips w/ wifey's V6 Alero, which gets 30 to 32 mpg hwy, but lucky if we're getting 20 mpg city this time of year.

$50 and rising. Not at all like my stock investments.

My commute is 21 round trip miles/day. I suppose a tank would last me a month. I top off the tank once a week so it rarely falls below 3/4.

So I still have quite a bit of "cheap" January gas sloshing around. Since gas is probably cheaper now than it will be in the coming weeks I suggest we fill 'er up.

$36.50 last week at $1.74/gal and about 20 gals put in.  My mileage for that tank was around 280.  The most I ever got was around 390 and change on a roadtrip to KY.

I just filled my tank tonight.  I put $52.00 for 386 miles.  It was just over 30.5 gallons at $1.699.  It may be time to look for a little car until the gas prices subside.  Besides, my truck already has 13,524 miles on it and I've just had it 8 months.

I wish I had a bigger tank, only 29 gals. I am averaging 16 mpg with winter diesel doing my normal driving. My last fill-up I paid $1.69 a gal.

John, you are lucky you don't live in PA.  Diesel is $1.85 and up around here!!!

Ouch @ 1.629 a gallon

Now I will for sure fill up at our shop instead of going 20 miles away from home with it on Empty !
