2003 2500HD Reverse

I'v got a 2003 2500HD Chevy 4x4 crew cab with 6.0L. When I am backing out of a parking space there is a poping noise from the rear axle area. It occurs after backing about 25' or so and always in exactly the same distance from the starting position. Can anyone tell me what this might be?

Thanks.

Hey I had that noise also on my 2002Hd. I think it has something to do with the rear axle. Someone here wrote about it. I never got around to getting it checked. The good news is that after 2500-3000 miles it just disappeared.I back out of my garage everyday and if it didn't stop I would have checked it by now. I think sometimes things just have to break in before you screw with them. Especially rear axle stuff.

I get this noise as well. I asked the local GM garage about it and they told me that it is the rear disks adjusting to the rotors. They say that is how the trucks rear brakes get adjusted. Don't know if it's really true or not but sounds logical. The noise occurs when i back out of the spot and touch the brake pedal. I just purchased my truck, 03 2500HD Ext Cab 6.0L last Saturday so if it gets worse it's goin back!
