Navigation Audio Traffic Warnings

The wife has a new Z71 she has had it just three weeks now, it has Navigation on it. When we went through the construction zone on I-35 in Norman Ok it announces all the lane and exit closures.

 

My Highcountry has Navigation as well. I noticed no audio prompts in the construction zone. I went in to the settings and made sure everything for audio prompts is turned on. Still no audio warnings in the construction zone. The route warnings were there if I searched display.

 

I took it to the dealer. They checked the settings, everything was on and they found no problem.

 

They seem to be the same 8" screen myLink system.

 

Is there some remote setting I am missing?

Is it possible that the systems are different?

Should it audio announce?

 

I should point out that when I enter a address the directions announce fine.

Hmm, not sure, I have had the navi tell me the traffic conditions have changed and it is rerouting me, or to be careful that there is an accident up ahead.. Do you have the full XM service on your truck still? Because thats where it comes from. Their highest package.

XM is still active, and I have to assume it is the highest package. Maybe it isn't, I wouldn't know how to tell.

 

When going through the construction zone the navigation would reroute. The problems in the area were displayed on the system but just no audible announcement about traffic.

I have been through the zone using the navigation system and not, it doesn't announce ramp closures either way.

 

The wife's truck does regardless.

Maybe the newer Mylink units have more features? I don't think mine has ever announced a ramp closure, though I don't think I've ever gone by one. Out of curiousity does yours and your wifes knobs light up? Maybe that will help determine how old your units are.
