What part did the squirrels eat?

Hi Everyone,

As you can see in the attached pic, the squirrels (or mice?) have triggered a “Service Engine Soon” (SES) light by chewing through one of the emission system lines on my fuel tank. In the attached diagram (which is close), the hard black tubing is part #13. Can anyone tell me the proper name of that section of tubing? What is the proper name of the damaged blue fitting on the top of the tank? Can I replace the fitting myself? It looks pressed in, not screwed in. My searches are not getting me anywhere.

The truck is drivable, but I won’t be able to pass VA state inspection at the end of the month. Thanks in advance for any help on the right part names and hopefully a fitting-replacement procedure; I sure hope I don’t need a new tank because of this.

I do believe that fitting is molded into the tank, as to the exact name of it idk. It is likely the EVAP line that goes to the EVAP canister. You may have to get creative as to reattatching that line with some kind of fuel resistant epoxy.

Thanks Efritz, that's what I'm afraid of. There isn't much nipple left to attach anything. Splicing and rigging the plastic tube end might be doable, but attaching to what's left of this nipple if going to be tricky. I continue to search for part diagrams of the evap system and tank hardware. I'm hoping via that or someone chiming in that there's a away to pop this thing out and drop in a new one. It's maddening; I surely can't be the first person to have a problem with this part/fixture. Dang critters!

Any GM service techs or part managers out there who may have had to interact with these emission system parts? I've priced used tanks as a backup plan, but hoping this fitting comes out or I can do some drilling and "surgery" to jury-rig it. Ideas on that are welcome!

Couldn't you put a small fitting inside the hole that is left and slip the line over and epoxy... Maybe a washer fluid hose fitting would be that small?
