Help with Trans cooler lines for 01 1500 with the 5.3

Hey guys I have a 2001 Silerado 1500 ext cab 4x4 with the 5.3. My trans cooler lines took a crap and I bought gm replacement ones. I do not have the aux cooler though. My questions is this. What is the easiest way to get the lines off of the transmission? When I looked there is barely any room to get to them let alone take the "E" clip out and pull the line. Is there a trick? Thank You

It isn't easy, they only come in and out one way. I did them on my 04 2wd. The transfer case there might complicate things. You might have to undo the front driveshaft to get more room to work in there. Just use patience.

I just did a tranny line on one of those a few months back. I took a dental pick one with a good curved hook to grab the clip and welded it to the end of the hadle from a gate latch (one of those ones that you press down on with your thumb and it pushes the latch up on the other side) This way I had a nice long pick with something substantial on the other end to hold onto and easily turn the pick to get it under the clip.

Be careful when the clip lets go I ended up losing one somewhere as it shot off the end of the pick. The fittings with the clip are fairly cheap so I had already bought an extra one just incase.
