Any update? I agree with AceMI that I think that it could still be a trailer tire issue and not the truck. Dose one of your buddies have a trailer you could borrow for a test drive by chance?

Still waiting for the 5th wheel.... Did you note my original post where I noted 2 different trailers had been used...

Finally resolved....

Picked up the new Cyclone Fifth Wheel toyhauler this week and finally able to check for vibration with a different and much heavier trailer load. I should also mention that I recently added AirLift 5000 airbags on the rear springs of the 2500.

After pulling this 15k# trailer from KY to OH and then back to TN in a variety of conditions, there is -no- sign of the earlier vibration problems! The airbags were only carrying 30lbs and may have helped some, but I mostly expect the vibration disappears with a heavy load. So the vibration, in my case, was apparent only when pulling a lighter trailer.

Amyway I am happy to get this resolved for most of my towing !

Before i took ownership of my ordered 2500hd SLT back at the end of July i had read these posts and hoped like all get out that i wasn,t going to have this vibration issue. I ordered my truck with the 20" wheels and had to take the Goodyear SR"s. I have 2700kms and have noticed a odd slight vibration in the steering wheel and my back while driving at city speeds. It was when i towed mine and a friends enclosed snowmobile trailers that i noticed a bad vibration around 50 - 65 mph and the front end felt like it was floating from side to side . Also it feels like a tire or tires are jerking back and forth like a Fred Flintstone tire. I have towed these trailers previously with my 2010 duramax and Bridgestone Duravis tires with no problems whats so ever so im positive this is not a traler/tire issue. It's like these tires are out of balance right from new. I even lowered air pressure to see if that would help with no difference. I bought this truck to be able to tow my trailers and 5th wheel, i dont think i could trust it to tow a kids red flyer wagon let alone my trailers. Any and all advice, opinions and ideas would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance

Oldy800, Does the vibration also occur towing the 5th Wheel?

Mine smoothed out with the big load...

No it didn,t cjackg. I found a aftermarket parts truck shop that will take them on trade for a complete set of Toyo AT2'S. Even if i get $250 for them ill take it as thats what i paid as a have to take option for choosing the 20" rims. They r actually scary when towing on dry pavement, can't imagine what a nightmare driving through the Rockies in Jan/Feb with these tires would be like. How on gods green earth have GM/Chev and Goodyear not been sued yet. This is the same junk they have been putting on their trucks with the 20" rims since 2011. They all know there are some serious issues but choose to ignore the complaints as nobody has died yet. How pathetic.

Did you trade in only the tires and keep the OEM 20" wheels? Can you give us the exact Toyo tire spec?

Thanks!

Does this problem seem only limited to 20" wheels and Goodyear's combo? I'm on my second set of the good years for my 15' with only 1200 miles due to a vibration around 75 mph. Sending it back to the dealer wed to hopefully get this resolved. I had this set of tires independtly roadforced and the numbers came back at 14,17, 32, and 40. Not sure if those

higher numbers may be contributing?

I am having a vibration problem with 2015 2500 HD denali duramax srw. At 68 it starts to vibrate and gets worse as you speed up. As the vibration starts you can slow the truck down and the vibration stops then as you speed up it picks up again. Truck has 500 miles on it, it has been in the shop for a week and dealer is trying to get to the bottom of it. Pretty frustrating. I have not tried to tow anything yet. ugh...

My 2015 2500HD 6.0, 4x4, Z71, 18" rims, with a build of last month is smooth as silk at all speeds up to 75 mph (didn't go any faster). While I understand a problem can occur after X miles, at least out of the gate (only 80 miles on it) no problems with vibrations. I will keep an eye on it.

Which wheel and tire combo is on your new HD?

Which wheel and tire combo is on your new HD?

The stock all terrain tires provided by GM, Michelin LTX AT/2, 265/70/18. Also noticed my drive shaft has someone signature on it (from the markings, I assume the person that balanced it).

I'm curious of what ptown is running as a combo. Seems like mostly folks running the 20" with Goodyear's are experiencing this. Prehaps its a coincidence, or maybe it is causing it? I've been considering buying OEM 18's and seeing if that improves anything for me as crazy as that sounds

Did switching from the good years resolve this issues? I am debating out of pocketing a wheel/ tire change if this is going to resolve my issues. Getting sick of the dealer and GM's nonsense run around with a $60k truck

    • You seem to be struggling with reading comprehension.   I HAVE SAID 3 TIMES THAT THE BOTTOM OF THE CROSSHATCH IS A QUART BELOW FULL.    I have also said that the manual will not call that "1 quart low" because it is not a quart below the acceptable range in answer to asilverblazer saying that he has never seen the bottom of the marking noted as "1 quart low" in a manual. The wording of the manual allowing for an acceptable range would indicate that .00001" above the add mark is ok. Also, because the manual allows a range, a quart below full and a quart below acceptable are two different volumes. Thus the manual will not use the phrasing "1 quart low"
    • GDI Injector tips are in the combustion chamber and yes, they are subject to the same aromatic hydrocarbon based carbon build up the entire chamber is subjected to. Chevron Techron is a PEA based cleaner (polyether amine)  that is VERY effective if the dose is high enough.  Carbon the tips disrupts the spray pattern so keeping them clean is kind of a big deal. It will clean more than the injector tips. It will keep the inside of the injector tip clean as well. When they shut off they 'hot soak' building varnish internally behind the pintle. The tip, unlike most MFI systems have several orifices of very small diameter. They have to stay clean to work right. That spray pattern is supposed to spray into the cup in the piston, not all over the cylinder walls. Old guys will understand...    Top Tier Chevron has enough of the cleaner to be effective if used regularly. Other solutions could be Shell V Power Nitro + Premium and Exxon/Mobil Supreme Plus Premium ONLY use a different chemistry to the same effect with the added bonus of a friction/antiwear additive as well. Red Line SI-1 is PEA based as well with an upper cylinder lube. There's a white paper on their site for shock treatment of system left untreated for long periods. AMSOIL PI has a full system cleaner of yet another chemistry that will strip carbon out of the power cylinder pretty quick. Gumout Regane is also PEA based but at very low doses and those that are isopropanol based will not be effective. Alcohol content is way to low. Chevron Techron in any pump gas, Use by package instructions. 10 oz per 15 gallons every 3,000 miles. First use may require two treatments.    So, Techron, Red Line SI-1 and AMSOIL PI if batch treating and Shell, XOM Premium or any Chevron Fuel will not just keep it clean, but will clean it if dirty. No other fuel "I'm aware of will do that".    Flex Fuel motors. If you use at least 40% alcohol on a regular basis they won't carbon at all. PEA is not recommended for fuels over E-20     (www.carparts.com)
    • It is always a good idea to exercise it at least every few months to make sure the actuators don’t get stuck. It is also a good idea to actually drive it for at least a few hundred feet when you do that so seals experience motion and oil movement.  Off pavement or snow/ice is best for this, but driving wet pavement in a straight line for a  short distance will work if you don’t have other options. I have  forgotten and gone as long as six months between exercising it on my 2021 and it has always shifted promptly.  I usually just use my straight 300 foot gravel driveway.
    • Absolutely!  These forums are legion with posts of people complaining that their truck wouldn't go into 4WD when they needed it to.  Most of them hadn't used it ever or in years.   I try to run mine through the paces every month or so and drive it a few miles on a dirt trail near the house a couple times a year if not already off-roading.
