Ethanol Sucks...

The new RaceTracs near me have 0% poop in them. Sadly it's $4.25 a gallon. Put some in with 1/4 tank and I'll fill up again with 1/4 tank so maybe by then the 10% poop will be diluted considerably. It might be fine for dry climates but here in Florida there are quite a few horror stories from the boating industry (over blown or real I couldn't tell ya). Granted I run the stuff in my mower and edger with some Lucas poured in so maybe that helps. I do know that when my 73's fuel pump went bad and started spewing fuel I couldn't tell that it was fuel by smelling or feeling it. That gas has been in that tank quite a while as the truck just sits there. I hope more stations in Florida start carrying 0% it's only been a year since we got rid of that mandate dangit!

Alcohol will eat the resin holding fiberglass or carbon fiber tanks and boats together. That is a huge issue with old boats. My uncles' carbon fiber dirt bike tank melted into his carb and dried in the intake going the cylinder. We were just changing the head gasket when we found it. I'll have to look for the those pictures. Another note is our test stand gas will turn orange in color if it sets for a over a couple weeks. Race Trac 93 with 10%. Ethanol destroyed the carburetor on my Stihl trimmer. I had to replace it to get it the thing to run again and that's when I switched to the Stihl brand fuel I posted about earlier. Hopefully it runs fine from here on out. Now only my lawn mower will get fuel with 10% ethanol and that's only because the manual says it's ok to do so. I add Stabil to the gasoline which is supposed to help keep ethanol fuel from breaking down and fouling up your engine.
