305's on stock wheels?

A friend of mine is ready to get new tires and is thinking about getting 305 BFG mud TA's on stock rims.  He has a 99 sportside reg cab z71 with the good ol' factory firestones.  I have not seen any reg cab 1500's with 305's but I would think they'd fit ok.  Maybe a little premature wear but shouldn't rub.  I told him he will have no problems with 285's but he just wants to go bigger. He's always trying to outdo me!  Does anyone have any pics of non-HD1500 with 305's on stock wheels?

They will fit, But I don't think its a good idea, Our rims are 7" stock and those tires usally want a 8-10" rim.  So the wear will be bad, and i'd hate to get in a crash and  have a tire pop off and have the insurance not cover me because of it.  Also im not crazy about the look.  I just got 285/75/16 with 16x8 baja rims because I did not want a 285 on my stock rims.

I'm running ProComp Mud terrain 305/70/16 on factory wheels. I put a 3" body lift and trimmed the air dam a little on the edges. Kept torsion bars in stock position. Pics are under "Project 2002 2500HD" on my website link at the bottom of the post. Check it out if you want.

Shotgun, Knuts, Chevy4x4trucks nice trucks!

Shotgun, do you have a lift on your truck?  I have an 03 Silverado 1500HD and those 245/75/16's look tiny, I want to go to 285's on the stock rims.

Those Wrangler MT/R are an amazing tire!  They use them on the new hummer and they don't have any more highway noise that the standard wrangler.  Take a look at how narly these meats really are:

Well, mine held nice and tight when I was t-boned.  I was more worried about the body lift, but the body didn't shift at all even though the impact was right in the passenger side door and the small part just below it.

I was debating 285 or 305 but I think you made my decision for me.  Although I may get a package deal including wheels from 4WP when they are on sale.  Nice looking trucks.  Any more picks would be appreciated.
