3/4 ton to 1/2 ton

I've driven an 03 d max for the past 11 years and recently purchased a 14 z71 1/2 ton. I loved my dmax but for some reason do not feel comfortable in the new 14. I cannot decide if I'm uncomfortable bc it's a half ton or if I just don't care for the truck.

Anyone having the same experience?

Dislikes are: no rear air vents, cooled seat vents in rear of seats, center console seems like a deep black hole ( I've had mail get lost under drink holders) poor positioning of door lock control, side view mirrors, poor radio reception, seat moves, key remote, poor voice activation, delay in changing Bluetooth songs, cooled seats don't seem to work all that great

Any thoughts or experiences would be appreciated

Thanks!

I have the same thing happening ,I have been driving my 02 duramax for going on 10 years now and and I hate to see that truck go as I have always taken good care of it and it still drives like new it is the best truck I have ever owned. The one problem the early d-max have is injectors and my truck is starting to show signs of a second failure of the injectors so I decided to start looking for a new truck and found the exact one I wanted ,it is a 2014 silverado Ltz 2LZ Z71 with a 6.2 and 3.42 rear end CC with standard bed,it was the only one in Ontario and I had to get my dealer to make a trade for it.

The truck arrived at the dealership on Monday and I went over to test drive it to make sure there was no vibrations and there wasn't thank god ,it drives nice but it just felt different then my 3/4 ton and I am not sure if I like it or not ,It is a beautiful truck for sure and will probably get to like it but the old d-max is a tuff act to follow ,buyers remorse I guess ,it is too late now though as I pick it up this morning and my d-max is sold and yes the new owner knows about the injector problem.I hope we both get to like our new rides.

Yes, they are good looking trucks. I will say I think you will be happier with the 6.2 than the new d max. I drove one and it felt like a tank... Pretty rough and tight nothing like our old trucks.

Wish you the best and good luck!

Coming from a 3/4 to the 1/2 the electric power steering was a relearn for me , just didn't feel right, but a week later didn't bother me anymore.

I have both a '14 6.2 and a '14 Duramax (GMT-900). The 1500 rides a lot smoother empty and is just overall easier to drive around town (not that the 2500HD is hard) that's about the only advantage it has over the Duramax. Since you are supposed to run 93 in the 6.2 it isn't much cheaper than diesel fuel. They get very similar mileage. The 6.2 should be cheaper to maintain in the long run. I don't keep my personal trucks more than 4-5 years, so I don't expect to have to worry about major failures/repair bills with either truck.
