Add Bluetooth to 06 Silverado and keep factory radio?

I was looking for some help. I just purchased a 2006 Silverado that has OnStar and the Bose radio. I would like to add Bluetooth so I can use hands free phone calls. The steering wheel controls have a voice button and the rearview mirror has a phone button.

Can I pair my phone with the truck as is?

Can anyone recommend a good Bluetooth add-on that allows me to keep all the factory radio features?

Any help appreciated,

Jed

I have never seen the steering wheel button work for a regular phone, just onstar.

I think you'll spend more trying to get it to work with the factory head unit. In my opinion go ahead and get an aftermarket unit that supports Bluetooth, you should be able to use the steering wheel button to pick up then. The stock radio in my pickup is going bad, they don't last forever. Better to have a new one I think.

Look into "bluestar" module. it replaces the onstar and allows exactly what you want to do.

Be warned its kinda weird and doesn't work all the time. or maybe i'm dumb and cant figure it out.
