Thanks for the respomses! My father-in-law heard me talking about this... He wanted to get me xmas present still so long story short, I have a new max energy power programmer from hypertech!

 

I will report back on impacts when I correct for tire size and make other adjustments using it. It will be late this weekend before I get a chance.

 

Another note - on the 600 km return trip on Sunday got down to 14.8 litres/100 km (15.9 mpg US) (19.0 mpg imperial) this was in "auto" 4x4 mode in a blinding snow storm for the first 300 kms.

Hypertech has worked very well for me. I calibrated it with two gps systems (yes I'm a bit nerdy) and found the most accurate results came from entering the compressed tire height instead of the unladen tire height. So for my 34 inch tires I found that entering 33 inches (the tire height with the weight of the truck on the tires) into the Hypertech gave the most accurate speedometer/odometer readouts compared to GPS.

 

It will definitely improve your shift points and V4 engagement. After 37K miles with a small lift and 34 inch tires, I'm still averaging 20mpg overall. See my Signature block for more info. Good luck with yours.
