Help Needed -- Remove Upper Box Molding?

Recommended Posts

Hi, all --

The Sierra gets its first few "big" mods (i.e. big to me, minor to most of you here) on Tuesday, when it goes in for a Line-X coating and gets its BAK Roll-X installed by yours truly.

I'm also going to be installing a BAK Box down the road which, if I understand correctly, will likely limit access to some of the forward mounting points for the OEM removable tie-down anchors. I'd still like to get some usable forward tie-down points, so I was thinking about putting in a pair of Bullring anchors into the forward stake pockets.

Here's the problem: those forward stake pockets are covered by the upper box molding. I suspect it's easy enough to Dremel plastic away from the area and expose the pocket, but I'd prefer to do this with the molding off the truck so I don't ruin the paint.

So, that's my question -- is there a way to safely (and hopefully fairly quickly) remove the upper molding?

Appreciate any advice anyone can lend...

-Evan
