gss036 Posted March 19, 2003 Posted March 19, 2003 I have a 99 Silverado, new body style, I have a daytime running light out on the left side, I thought it would be simple to change but I cannot get to the fixture to change it. Help Please?
TROYROBO Posted March 19, 2003 Posted March 19, 2003 1-remove the 2 pins holding headlight assembly in--pull out to expose light assembly underneath headlight 2-reach down behind running light unit -twist and remove housing 3-remove burnt bulb---remember not to touch new bulb with bare hands--use paper towel or rag --reinsert new bulb and reverse assembly directions above--should be a snap job---real easy fix
BlueRado Posted March 19, 2003 Posted March 19, 2003 What troyrobo said. I remember the first time I had to replace one of mine, I looked in there and thought OMG how the heck am I ever gonna get to that? ??? ??? Then I started fooling around, and took a closer look. It's also spelled out in the owner's manual, strangely enough. Actually, when you see how slick it works, you feel foolish!!! And it sure beats having to become a body contortionist!!! BTW, welcome to the site and forum!
gss036 Posted March 19, 2003 Author Posted March 19, 2003 :hail: Many thanks, I just knew there had to be a simple way. I replaced a headlight assembly on a 1996 Ford Tarus for an elderly lady this past weekend, it was kinda like a jigsaw puzzle. Is there one of the Forums here that deal with engines, I would like to read the posts to see if others have had they same situation as I and a friend had with our new trucks.
RyanbabZ71 Posted March 19, 2003 Posted March 19, 2003 whats the situation? Knocking? Try the Light Duty forum or engine forum
gss036 Posted March 19, 2003 Author Posted March 19, 2003  I just wanted to read posts on the subject. I went thru it with my new truck, GM rebuilt the engine at 11K and didn't fix it, then at 15K dropped in a brand new out of the box factory engine. So far no knock(piston slap). I did get a letter on the engine extending the warranty out to 60K / 5yr.
DuramaxDicko Posted May 6, 2003 Posted May 6, 2003 Got a question. what is it with these running lights? I swear I see at least 1 out of 4 GM/chevy trucks with burned out running lights On my '89 GMC, I run my lights all the time and it was just this year that I had to replace a headlamp. Are the running lights any better on the '03's?
TROYROBO Posted May 6, 2003 Posted May 6, 2003 bought my truck used---only replaced 1 so far-- 1 yr to date------ ------now i've done it---probably have to replace another 1 now that i opened my mouth about it
John R Posted May 11, 2003 Posted May 11, 2003 There is an easy way to change these bulbs. Look at the light back where it meets the fender and there is A release tab to take the light right out of the truck. Hope This Helps
