Truck Loosing Power

Recommended Posts

I have a 2012 gmc sierra and was driving it home tonight and on my way it cut out and lost power. The locks started to lock on there own and the lights flickered. The engine lost power but it never cut off completely and it went back to running fine. But later down the road when I cut my bright lights on I noticed it did it again. And I'm wondering if any one could help me or has had this problem before. It seems to happen when I cut the bright lights on. Thanks for any help

You have any warranty left ?

You have a loose connection somewhere I would think

Can't hurt to ask for good will , you're barely over in mileage and 3 yr mark is likely later in the yr

Sounds like a low voltage situation. Maybe it's an alternator issue? Flipping on the brights draws a lot of power, and maybe it reduces your system voltage? What if you turn on the rear defroster, or crank up the blower?

Ya my 2009 has done it twice. One today and once a month ago. Cleaned battery and engine ground then. Cleaned main fuse tonight so I'll see. Hope we figure out something.

Battery voltage was always around 14 - 15
