How many of you guys have installed the chrome door handles on your trucks? I just bought a pair, i don't think they are going to come with directions! Is this easy to do, I would think it would be fairly easy! If any of you guys have directions is it possible u could photo copy me a copy and fax or email them to me??

Any info would help!

Thanks in advance

Exterior door handles are fairly simple.  I had no instructions when I did mine.  The hardest part is locating the screws that hold the door handles in.  I have not done the interior ones but I think it would be just as easy, just remove some screws, replace the handle lever, and screw everything back in.  This might be a good chance to do a guide if you take some pictures while doing it!

I just did mine this weekend.  Very easy to do.  There are 3 nuts that hold each handle on.  2 behind the door trim panel and 1 behind a round plastic plug cover on the door jamb.  Just look at your new handles to find the locations of the nuts.  Remove all nuts and unhook 2 linkage rods and the handle will come right out.  Then all you have to do is pry back the steel retaining ring that hold your lock cylinder in and push it out then just simply push it in the new handle.  Are your new handles coming painted in the correct color?  I had to paint mine because they don't offer Victory Red as a color choice for an Escalade.  But, working at a body shop, it was an easy job to paint them.

Matt, when you painted yours did you sand everything smooth or just leave the texture finish? I want to paint mine but they have the textured finish. :jester:

Our stock handles have a black textured finish.  You can order a "paint to match" handle for a Tahoe/Yukon application.  These come primered and you paint the handle surround and the part you pull to open the door.  You can get a handle already painted for an Escalade application.  These have a painted surround and the part you pull is chrome.  This is the way I went.  But, the Escalade doesn't come in every color that our trucks come in.  My truck is Victory Red and the Escalade doesn't come that way.  So, I ordered Escalade handles in their red metallic, scuffed the finish lightly, and then painted them.  Painting our stock textured handles probably wouldn't look the best.  At roughly $30 per handle, I would at least order a set of Tahoe handles and paint them.

Thanks! I think I will go the Tahoe/Yukon route.

$30.00 ea. isn't too bad a price. :jester:
