ABS/Brake light gremlin

Recommended Posts

Hello again!

Now I am on the the ABS/Brake light gremlin now.

Symptom:

Driving along, not using the brakes. Both ABS and Brake lights come on at the exact same time

If you stop, turn of the burb, and crank it back up, the light goes away. It does eventually come back on.

I have not seen it come on while I am actually using the brakes.

It doesn't matter if I am towing or not.

What I have done so far:

I cleaned the ground per some suggestions I have seen. that did not help.

Next step:

Get codes by going by Precision Tune or something like that?

Get feedback from you folks and follow through on that?

Go ahead and replace the ABS module?

Thanks in advance!

PS. this is the car I race and tow with the Suburban.

I have the same thing going on and plan to just get the codes from a free scan at auto zone.

Even with the lights on I have full abs capability so its just a nuisance to see the lights on.

Scan the EBCM And have the code diagnosed and ignore all crap before this post , it's all nonsense I'm afraid and misinformation

Do it right once

Sorry, for taking my time to attempt to help someone.

Don't worry about it, you're only guessing on someone's wallet content without having any experience or diagnostic ability ,,, what's so ever

Glad I can help you as well

If you would have read the description you would have noticed it says "You may have code C0265 Electronic Brake Control Module Motor Relay Circuit"....Sooo scanning was is a given (At least to anyone paying attention anyway). Hell they had the truck on a scanner at the very beggining. Also what about this fix cost's anything other than time? This video is about a repair NOT a replacement.

It is fine for people to disagree but everyone needs to show respect for each other. We are a community that strives to help each other out and the first step towards that is respect for each other.

OK people stay calm! All is well.

I am going to get it scanned, I promise. I am also not going t take the ABS module apart, as it would render it unexchangeable.

Having said that, once the lights come on, they stay on. They are not intermittent. This guy is describing ABS/Brake flashing intermittently. Mine only go off after I shut the burb off and turn it back on.

The one thing I did get from the video is that the ABS unit can stop working due to vibration, so scanning the codes to verify the ABS sensors work is the next step, and replacing the module is the step after that.

I'll let everyone know what I find.

PS. I was looking for other steps to take so I appreciate the suggestions and did watch the video. We are all smart people here, but remember, if someone suggests I jump off a cliff, it doesn't mean I am going to do it!

Thanks.

I did the video as I had code 265. It was hard to cut the glue and more of a pain to get to (under seat on frame). I am very experienced in soldering and circuit boards but that was very easy to do and code cleared. They do sell repaired modules for about $150 or repair your for same. P.S. you need a code reader that can read ABS codes.
