Water pump question

Recommended Posts

Posted

I am getting a slight smell of antifreeze at times when i walk past the front of the truck. I have checked and found no obvious signs of a leak, so I am assuming that the water pump gaskets are weeping or the weep hole at the back of the pump (if they still have one). I only have 64,000 miles on the truck. So my guestion is, do I just leave it alone or do I replace the pump and gaskets? It sounds like the pumps are good for a lot more miles than what I have on my truck so it kind of seems like a waste. So I thought I would get your opinions. Thanks

Gaskets have been a common leak point. But, check hose connections, all of them, including the throttle body connections. They could be seeping. You might have a radiator leak
