DL3 Mirror Interchangeability?

Need a replacement mirror for an '08 Tahoe that had all the mirror options and seem to mostly find various later model Sierra DL3 mirrors with some but not all of the features that we had.

 

Will the later model truck mirrors function properly on the '08 Tahoe?

 

Do we need to find something with matching options or will our vehicle compensate and work whatever the replacement mirror has?

An example, most don't have puddle lights where we did.

Yes they will work DL3 is DL3. In 2011 i believe they changed the style of the LED indicator. But it will work.

I've notice some the the tags have a code: GM900 xx/xx/xx/xx/xx/xx...

They have letters instead of xxs and one could guess that the letters stand for features, like H might mean heated, PF as power fold, etc.

 

So would it be correct to assume that there are feature variants withing the DL3 designation but any variant should work on any truck provided that it has fewer rather than more features?

 

It's been impossible to find the exact replacement in the early years of the late body style and many sellers of used mirrors seem to make a distinction between 2007/2008 and the following years from 2009 on but do not have an accurate explanation why.

I am not sure. DL3 is the code for the full feature power fold, heated, signal mirrors. That is what DL3 means on these trucks. DL8 is just heated.
