Step Side Bed

I'm getting all my options  that i want on my 1500hd C.C , & my dealer tells me that I could order a step side bed on the C.C. because it's a 1500 model....Not many out there so I thought that this would look cool. Does this sound right to you guys? Anybody have a stepside box on their 1500 HD.? I wish I could get a stepside protech...lower the weight even more on the truck....

If you can get a stepside on the 1500HD, then that would be the first one I have ever seen.  I'd be surprised if GM would except that order...  but if they do then I would love to see some pics of the truck when it comes in, becuase it would certainly be unique!!!

If it is available, It will have to be a mid-year change for 03 as it was not available on a 1500hd when the 03s first came out.  To my knowledge, GM has never offered a stepside bed on 3/4 or 1 ton trucks. (not talking about the 30s-50s).  

 

I'm sure that the stepside bed could be swapped onto the truck, if you want it bad enough to spend the money on the bed, tailgate, taillights, paint job, bumper, etc.  Only thing I would check is whether the bumper will fit on the 3/4 ton frame, as the bumper brackets may become an issue.
