Tailgate / Drive-in movie tips

I'm new to this site and a first time truck owner (2015 Silverado double cab- LT). Just bought a house and realized a sedan is not exactly convenient for home projects.

Recently, I went to a drive-in move theater and I like to sit on the tailgate, but thats when I realized how amazingly insulated this truck is, and as a result does not project sound very well, even with the doors open. (no, I don't have a sliding back window :-/ )

So my question is:

Does anyone have any suggestions on external speakers, and will wifi speakers connect and function with the infotainment system?

Also, Feel free to share any other tailgate party / drive-in hacks you may have discovered recently or over the years.

Here's what I use at the drive in. The Monster Rocking Roller. It has a FM radio inside of it. It's loud enough for a group of cars. Sounds good as well.

It has a battery that lasts forever.

I second SMB's idea. It'd fix your sound problem.

Beach chairs would be great in the bed.

Don't forget a cooler!

...don't forget....park in FRONT of a Prius!

I actually have a old marine cooler with cushions and reclinable back rest that sits 2 and fits perfectly in the bed.

Funny you say that... I tried!! But failed, as I had a swat team of movie attendants converge on my location demanding I move to the back row due to the hight of my vehicle. I forgot I was driving a truck.. But I will try again.

We just take a queen size inflatable mattress,and prop some pillows against the rear window. We leave the tailgate up, and my wife, our two kids, and myself are very comfortable. As for sound the MRR sounds like a good idea.

Yep. It works well. They had them on sale at Sam's Club for $129 so I grabbed it to replace one of those cheap Pyle / Ion speakers that sounded horrible. This one sounds way better. I take it with me to the beach, the park, wherever I need to drown out the sounds of my three kids!!!!

I think the battery lasts for over 12 hours on one charge. I have gone an entire weekend without charging this thing. It's a nice sounding portable speaker. Plus it has two charging ports for mobile devices as well.

I have a black and decker charger/radio that I take to the drive in. Runs off the same 18v batteries that it charges. We also take an inflatable mattress, pillows, and covers for late in the year movies.
