PF44 oil filter for 5.3L

I went to K-Mart with the wife this evening as they have two days before the close forever in our community, and got the deal of a lifetime.  We've got one of those stores scheduled to close due to K-Mart's financial problems...

 

Anyway, I was strolling through the very, very limited amount of automotive goods they had left at 90% off, when i found seventeen (17) AC Delco PF44 filters that fit my 5.3.  Here's the best part....the price, after the 90% discount was 25 cents a piece!!!  I do my own oil changes and immediately bought them out for a total of $4.25 plus .21 cents tax for a grand total of $4.46 for seventeen filters!!!!!!!!

 

No, I'm not a K-mart employee but would recommend to any of you out there with K-Marts that are closing down, to go take a look....might find a real bargain on AC Delco filters.

 

By the way, when I got home tonight I immediately compared it with the one I had on the shelf that I bought from the dealer....same filter, same box, just a very good price.

 

Now if I can just find a Mobil 1 dealer with a going out of business sale or a Mobil 1 tanker alongside the road that just sprang a leak! :thumb:

The PF44 is the filter for the LS1/LS6 engine in the F-Body and Corvette.  It's about half as tall as the PF59 that is OE spec for the 5.3L in our trucks.  Probably no harm will come to your engine, and for the price I can't blame you, but I would stick with the PF59.  More filter is better.

Actually my 2003 manual states that the PF44 is the filter for the 5.3L engine.  2002 and previous were PF59 but GM, in their infinite wisdom, decided to go with the PF44 - probably due to the clearance issue with the skid plate directly under the filter.

I didn't think Kmart was still around i think it left alberta a couple of years ago. At least i havent seen one.

Wow, that is a great deal. We have one of those stores in our area. I think I will get over there today and see what is left.

 

At that price you can afford to change the filter out at 2k and still be ahead with nice clean oil.
