Triton 6.8L V10 mileage...

A few of the guys have asked me what kind of mileage I have gotten with my 6.8L F250 so I thought I'd post a few numbers.  All honest too!

 

After 8600 miles I am getting:

10.5 to 11.5 mpg mixed driving

11.5 to 14.4 mpg unloaded highway

9.5 to 10.5 mpg highway towing my 5000lb enclosed trailer

 

Just went on a 450mi highway trip this weekend and got my best mileage to date: 450mi/31.2G=14.4mpg! Pretty pleased with that. I never expected to break 13mpg before I bought it after reading about experiences of other owners.  The mileage is slightly getting better as the miles add up.  On this past weekend trip I kept it between 60 and 70mph most of the way and had no load other than my son, myself and a few odd tools and bags in the ext cab.

It has a 29 gallon tank, so I can get around 290 to 400 miles max depending on the type of driving.  Usually I fill it up at about 260 miles, sometimes I let it get up over 300 if I've been on the interstate alot.

People don't realize that properly maintaining a vehicle can do wonders for fuel efficiency.

 

They think that the manufacturer says it should get "XX.X" MPG and it will.

 

I think that's right on par if not on the higher side than us 8.1 owners.

It's all about the Powerstroke.  My mom has the V8 powerstroke Diesel and that sucker brings in 18MPG city.
