I have a 2003 Chevy Silverado 1500HD and I am having a problem with the left tailight. I changed the bulb. Still nothing. I change the fuse it fixeS the tailight and I'm driving home and I get stopped by a cop. He says your left tailight is out. He gave me a warning so I come home and change the fuse again. It blows within 10 minuites. So I get under truck and see a ground wire hanging. It's still bolted to frame but not anywhere else. I unhook the ground wire since it was severed and I put another fuse in and I got the fuse halfway in and it blew instantly. What iS causing this? My thinking is it is that ground wire but I don't know where it connected to. I wanna replace it but like I said I'm not sure where to connect it to.

Probably you have a damaged wire which is shorting out. May be related to the ground wire you found hanging loose. Take out the wiring harness to the lamp and check the wiring for damage.
