Changing rim size

Hey guys, just picked up 14 Sierra 1500 ( without the max tow, does have trailer brake commander though) and I'm looking to find a set of winter rims and tires to keep the factory chrome ones in good shape. What's the smallest rim size I could put on ? Somebody told me 17 .. Thanks for the time !

17". 2007-2015 OEM steels will work. Does it have 18" on it now? If so, go with either a 245/75/17 or 265/70/17 to keep your tire size the same.

No I have 20's on it now but if I can't find anything I might have to settle.

Same tire size for the 20's will work if you go 17" steels or aluminums.

Nice, thanks! So would a 18 inch rim with a 255 tire have the same result ?

You have a few different tire size options with an 18" wheel. A narrow 255 width might look a bit goofy on these trucks. A 265/65R18 is a good size if you plant on leaving the truck stock. Plenty of tire choices and tire prices are cheaper than other less common sizes for 18's. If you plan on doing much towing, consider going with an LT tire instead of a P-metric.
