Cooling fans won't come on

Changed my thermostat a couple days ago and now my radiator fans won't ever come on. I thought I might have air in the system so I tried to bleed air from the system by leaving expansion cap off and letting truck warm up but I never really saw any bubbles . I even tried jacking the truck off the ground on the side of the expansion tank and still no bubbles so I'm not really sure if it's bled or not . I believe thermostat is opening because upper radiator hose is really hot and radiator and lower hose gets hot , the block is also hot but I can't understand why cooling fans are not coming on , haven't ran the truck very far afraid of overheating my engine , truck is 2010 silverado 1500 with 4.3 v6 any help would be appreciated .

Thanks for the reply , but there is no cap on the radiator only cap on the expansion tank. It still doesn't make sense to me if the coolant temp sensor which is located on the cylinder head is what tells my fans to come on ? The engine is clearly hot yet fans won't come on ? My temp gauge on the dash looks to be normal temp about 210 but I'm not sure if I should trust it .

Pretty simple really, with the pressure cap removed, the coolant will boil somewhere between 212 and 220. Don't know the specs on what temp the fans come on, but, I would guess it is lower than 220. One way to check for an air lock is to see if you have heat from the heater.

Depending on the ambient temp it may take a while for an idling engine to get hot. The smaller the displacement, the longer it will take.

Turn your air conditioning on... They should come on then. If not you've got other issues.
