Transmission Identification

I have a 2004 Sierra 1500 with a 4.3L V-6. The truck was stolen a while back and everything, owners manual, all paperwork from purchase, everything was gone when I got it back. I'm having some transmission issues and don't know which one it is equipped with. How do I find out?

If it's an automatic, it has a 4L60E. If you're wanting to know more than that perhaps one of our friendly techs will stop by and can help you out by looking up your VIN.

What about the transmission in a 1999 Silverado, 4.8L V-8? The VIN decoder doesn't list it.

Do you have the RPO code of M30? If you do then it is a 4L60e.

I don't know what the RPO code is.

Do you still have the RPO sticker inside of your glove box?

You then can match up the "Mxx" code to the list to tell you which transmission the truck originally came with.
