Lots of people say in disgust, "that's unbelievable to lose like that", but it's not unbelievable... it's the Lions; its their norm. This kind of thing has happened to them many, many times over the years. They always find a way to screw it up. You could make up a pro-bowl roster of players who've had their career best play (or game) against the Lions. They play as if they are trying not to lose rather than really trying to win.
