Truck Caps

I have a friend that wants to sell me a truck cap from a 1995 Dodge Ram short box and wanted to know if this would fit my 2001 Silverado short box without any problems?

I don't know for sure, but my guess is that it probably wouldn't be a very good fit especially if it is fiberglass, because they are contoured to the cab.

You will need to measure the bed rail lengths and widths on both trucks to make the final decision. I'd say it is a "No Go".

I checked the measurements and it seems to be fine but the only real way to tell is to actually put it on. Arggg

Please let me know how it goes. I want to get a cap for my '99 xtended cab shortbed, and would love to find a used one. I was told that the pre '99 won't fit, but if one from a Dodge fits that gives me another option. Rich

I put the cap on the truck and it fits great and looks awesome for a guy that never thought he would put one on.

I will post some pictures once I get it painted.

Cool. Glad you had some luck. So, this means

an older Ram cap will fit on my '99 new body style?

What years are the Ram's besides '95? Does anyone

know of any other caps that will fit?

What years of Ram's were the same as the '94s?

But an older style Chevy trucks cap won't fit the new body

style. Hmmmmm. Strange.

All i would do is take some measurements of your cab height, box length and width of your rails and that should be a good enough as Shaners mentioned.

If at all possible ask the seller to try it on your truck.

I had a shell and carpet in my old S-10 and it worked great for camping. Now I have added a shell to my SS with a BedRug. The slightly longer bed will be even better for sleeping (I am just a bit too tall for the S-10 bed). If you get a shell, check out the BedRug. They are molded to the corrugations on the bed and smooth them out, should make for comfy sleeping.
